These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the 4Drive Austria booking platform. By completing a booking through our website, you agree to these terms in full. Please read them carefully before proceeding with any reservation.
4Drive Austria operates a booking platform connecting customers with local vehicle rental companies across Austria. We facilitate reservations but do not own or operate the vehicles. The rental agreement for the vehicle is concluded directly between you and the rental company at the point of collection, not with 4Drive Austria.
The rental company's name, address, and contact details are provided in your booking voucher. Any disputes regarding the vehicle condition, damage claims, or operational matters must be resolved with the rental company according to the terms of the rental agreement you sign upon collection.
Our role is limited to processing your booking request and forwarding your details to the selected rental company. We are not party to the rental agreement itself.
When you complete a booking on our website, you receive a confirmation voucher by email. This voucher contains essential information including collection location, rental company details, vehicle category, and any additional services you have requested such as winter equipment, vignette for motorways, child seats, or cross-border permits for some countries.
The binding rental agreement is signed when you collect the vehicle. At that point, the rental company will inspect the vehicle with you, recording any existing damage on the agreement. Both parties sign this document, which forms the legal basis for your rental period.
Conditions specific to your rental, including permitted drivers, mileage limits if any, fuel policy, and return procedures, are detailed in both the voucher and the rental agreement. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with these terms.
When booking through 4Drive Austria, you pay a booking advance online by card. This advance secures your reservation with the rental company. The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle.
Payment methods accepted for the balance depend on the specific vehicle booked and are clearly indicated during the booking process and in your voucher. Options may include debit card, cash, or credit card. Cash cannot be used for the online booking advance.
If you do not hold a credit card and the vehicle requires one for the balance or deposit, we recommend arranging a debit card with a sufficient spending limit before your collection date.
Most rental companies require a deposit at collection. This is a temporary hold or block on your card to cover potential damage, traffic fines, or fuel charges. The deposit amount and accepted card types vary by vehicle and rental company.
Deposit requirements are specified for each vehicle during booking and confirmed in your voucher. These conditions are independent of any damage coverage or insurance options you may purchase. A deposit may still apply even if you select additional coverage.
The rental company releases the deposit after the vehicle is returned and inspected, typically within 7 to 14 days depending on the card issuer. Any deductions for damage or violations are itemized and communicated to you directly by the rental company.
All drivers must present a valid driving licence at collection. An International Driving Permit is recommended for licences issued outside the European Union. The rental company verifies these documents before releasing the vehicle.
Additional drivers may be added for a fee, payable at collection. Only drivers named on the rental agreement are permitted to operate the vehicle. Allowing an unauthorized person to drive may invalidate coverage and result in significant liability.
You must meet the minimum age requirement specified for your vehicle category. Age restrictions and any associated fees are shown during booking and in your voucher.
Vehicles must be operated in accordance with local traffic laws. Austria enforces right-hand traffic with speed limits of 50 km/h in urban areas, 100 km/h on rural roads, and 130 km/h on motorways. A vignette is required for motorways and expressways; purchase one at the border, petrol stations, or online before driving on these routes.
Winter tyres are mandatory from November to April when snow or ice conditions exist. Many alpine roads are scenic but winding, requiring careful driving. Off-road use is prohibited unless explicitly permitted for specific vehicle types.
Cross-border travel to neighbouring countries is usually permitted with advance notification to the rental company. Some destinations may require additional permits or documentation. Confirm cross-border permissions during booking and obtain written authorization in your rental agreement.

Cancellation terms vary by rental company and are outlined in your booking confirmation. Some bookings may be non-refundable or subject to cancellation charges. We recommend reviewing these terms before confirming your reservation.
If the rental company cannot provide a vehicle in the category you booked, they will offer a comparable or superior alternative. If no acceptable substitute is available, you are entitled to a full refund of amounts paid.
4Drive Austria acts solely as a booking agent. We are not liable for the condition, performance, or availability of vehicles, nor for any acts or omissions of rental companies. Your recourse for issues arising during the rental period is with the rental company under the rental agreement.
You are responsible for any damage to the vehicle, traffic violations, parking fines, or toll charges incurred during your rental. The rental company will deduct applicable amounts from your deposit or invoice you separately.
We do not guarantee vehicle availability, specific models within a category, or features beyond those explicitly confirmed in your voucher. Rental companies reserve the right to substitute vehicles within the booked category if circumstances require.
If you experience issues during your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details provided in your voucher. They are best positioned to resolve operational problems in real time.

Our office is located at Innere Stadt, Vienna, Austria, and we are available Monday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+1). While we will make reasonable efforts to assist, please note that matters governed by the rental agreement must be addressed with the rental company.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Austria. Any disputes arising from your use of the 4Drive Austria platform or these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Austria.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in effect at the time of your booking applies to that reservation. Continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
